CHICAGO SCA INTERGROUP – Sept. 11, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 5:30pm by Mike with a moment of silence and the serenity prayer. Statement of Objectives was then read.

CHAIR REPORTS
Secretary: Minutes from August 7th were reviewed and accepted.

Treasurer: total funds approx. $2600. Peter is stepping down as treasurer. Intergroup thanked him for his service. Motion was carried unanimously for John S. to fill out remainder of term.

Literature: Ted reported chips have been ordered. Still need copies of “all mtgs list”, workbooks, newcomer packs. (SA book has been published and getting good reviews)

Social: Ravinia Social went well. Motion was approved to reimburse Mike for three unused tickets. Joe S. is leading Hiking outing on Sat. Oct 1st to Chain-o-lakes park; all welcome to come & enjoy autumn colors (8am-2 pm). Also on Oct 22nd there will be a Social after Day of Recovery. Bob E. has graciously agreed to host December Holiday Gathering (probably Dec. 10th).

Outreach: Jeff distributed current draft of newsletter for feedback. Since its inception last summer, our SCA website has received 3700 hits. Intergroup discussed motion to place paid ads in Gay Chicago for twelve weeks (four periods of three consecutive weeks) at cost of $120-150. Motion passed after second vote: 5 yes/ 4 no/ 2 abstain.

OLD BUSINESS
Day of Recovery: Ken sent word that flyers will be out this week. Team is actively seeking volunteers for various aspects of Day. Those interested in Breakout groups should contact David S. or Mitchell. John S. reported that Drew C. from St Louis is available to be Keynote Speaker. Drew is currently editor of the Scanner. Motion passed unanimously in favor of this selection. Bob E. volunteered to coordinate Food for Day of Recovery (please contact him if you are willing to donate food/beverage).

ISO 2006: Joe and John reported that location still being researched. (Cenacle is booked; still looking at De Paul, Ill. Masonic, etc.) Will investigate group rate at hotel for those who prefer that option.

Future workshops: next one scheduled for January.

NEW BUSINESS
Issue was raised (held over from previous mtg) about providing financial help for those who cannot afford Socials. A Member asked whether we should place Ad in Gay Chgo for a whole year. Do we have the funds? After quick review of budget situation, issue was tabled to next mtg.

Meeting was closed at 6:30pm with a moment of silence and Serenity prayer. Next mtg will be Sunday Oct 2nd at 5:30pm at Berry United Methodist.
