The meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm by the Chair with a moment of silence and the Serenity prayer. Mitchell then read the statement of objectives.
CHAIR REPORTS
Secretary: Minutes from June 5th were reviewed and approved. Contact Information for members was updated.
Treasurer: Peter informed group that monthly balance sheet will be sent by e-mail. Approx. $3100. Cost of post office box is increasing from $19 to $35 for each 6 months.
Literature: Ted has ordered additional “Hope & Recovery” books; price now $13. Asked Reps. to encourage each group to approve funds for Meditation books so these would be available at Meetings. Ted has prepared 35-40 copies of “Moving thru Withdrawal” for distribution. Intergroup approved motion that money for these goes into regular Literature fund. Then when copies are sold out – we can send money onto ISO.
Social: Mike reported that June social went well. Sat. July 23rd will be concert at Millennium Park (Chorale Fantasies). Also ten tickets (Lawn) are available for Ravinia on Sat. August 27th (“Anyone Can Whistle”/Patty Lupone). PLEASE CONTACT MIKE A.S.A.P. TO RESERVE TICKETS (once ten are gone; last minute tickets may not be available).
Outreach: no report this month.
OLD BUSINESS
A. WORKSHOPS: There will be a Sponsorship workshop on August 20th at Ill. Masonic. If interested, contact Ted, Todd or Peter.
B. BYLAWS: Copies of NEW BYLAWS will be made available to Intergroup members (John); group copy will be prepared for each meeting location (Mike); copy will be sent to Jeff to post on our website.
C. DAY of RECOVERY: Ken A., Jarvis are co-chairs. SAVE THE DATE – Oct 22nd (flyer will be prepared). Mitchell will coordinate programming. John will send out “speaker list” electronically for feedback – so they can go ahead and begin contacting someone as LEAD speaker. There was discussion about next steps, inviting professionals and putting Day of Recovery on Calendar of Events published at Unity Church.
D. 2006 ISO MTG/March 3-5th: John and Joe are co-chairs. Looking for persons to co-chair committees: food; venue; housing; social. Various sites were discussed: Ill. Masonic, St Joe Hospital; De Paul; Thoreck Hospital; Cenacle retreat house. Want transit friendly location. John clarified our financial responsibility. Peter volunteered to coordinate housing; Bob expressed interest in Social (will talk to Todd).
NEW BUSINESS
Mike shared some thoughts on upcoming Socials.
