The meeting was called to order at 5:31 pm by the Chair with a moment of silence and the Serenity prayer. Mitchell then read the statement of objectives.
CHAIR REPORTS
Secretary: Minutes from July 10th were reviewed and approved. Copies of updated Contact Info were distributed.
Treasurer: Bills have been paid. Peter will send out spreadsheet electronically.
Social: 10 people enjoyed July concert at Millennium Park. REPS. PLEASE GET WORD OUT: 4-5 tickets for Aug 27th Ravinia Concert are still available ($10 lawn). Contact Mike ASAP. Also anyone interested in hosting a Social after the Day of Recovery gathering. For Sept. possibly a Hiking Event.
Outreach: “Right now nothing for Sept. newsletter.” Volunteers please contact Todd or Jeff. Will include info on October 22nd Day of Recovery. Jeff asked group for feedback on publishing location of Mtgs in newsletter. After discussion, Intergroup left it to his discretion.
ISO Update: next online mtg is in October.
OLD BUSINESS
Workshops: Peter updated group on AUG 20th SPONSORSHIP workshop to be held at IL. Masonic Educ. Bldg. Being with recovery fellowship is great way to spend a summer day.
Day of Recovery: Ken and Jarvis are co-chairs. Possible keynote speakers have been contacted; finalized shortly. Save the date: Oct. 22nd. Break-out groups were reviewed and approved. Intergroup approved motion to ask $15 suggested donation for day. Please emphasize that ALL ARE WELCOME – anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. (Don’t let difficulty paying donation stop you from attending.) Lots of service opportunities available: volunteers for break-out groups, setup/cleanup (Peter will coordinate), also Food (donations are greatly appreciated).
2006 ISO: Joe reported that various sites had been contacted. Accessibility to transportation is a key factor.
NEW BUSINESS
Sept. Intergroup Mtg will be held on Sept. 11th as scheduled. Mike O. will fill-in for Mitchell who will be out-of-town.
In response to query by a member, Intergroup asked Jeff S. to investigate cost of placing a classified ad about SCA in gay press. Jeff will consult Peter about budget aspect.
MEETING WAS EXTENDED FOR 5 ADDITIONAL MINUTES
Discussion was held on helping those who cannot afford the cost of Socials. Should we create a special fund? Send an envelope around? Issue was tabled until Sept Mtg.
Reminder about Summer ISO contribution.
